at the Episcopal Church of the Atonement in Fair Lawn, New Jersey
in 1998. The Rev. Kevin Coffey, center, performed the holy
union. The Episcopal Church, which has endured heated debate
over the subject of homosexuality for years, consecrated a practicing
homosexual man as bishop during its annual convention in August.
It is the first major Christian denomination in history to take
such a step, threatening to tear apart a worldwide communion numbering
more than 75 million believers. At press time, the Episcopal convention
was scheduled to consider a proposal to provide an official church
rite for blessing homosexual marriages, demonstrating the tremendous
strides made by homosexual activists both inside and outside the
Christian community. (AP/WideWorld Photos)

As indications grow that same-sex marriage will soon be legal in
one or more states in the U.S., pro-family groups are uniting in
a drive to defend the sanctity of marriage.
The Massachusetts State Supreme Court is soon expected to legalize
homosexual marriage, and the resulting legal struggle across the
nation may doom traditional marriage.
Pro-family groups, including AFA, are preparing to kick off a new
campaign with Marriage Protection Week, scheduled for
October 12-18. The purpose of the effort is to encourage churches
to become involved in the battle to preserve traditional marriage.
Here are the suggested actions that AFA is asking supporters to
take:
Call, write or E-mail your U.S.
representative and your two senators and tell them you are opposed
to homosexual marriage and civil unions. Urge them to
support the Federal Marriage Amendment, which would write into the
Constitution the one man, one woman definition of marriage.
You can reach members of Congress by calling 1-202-224-3121. You
can E-mail your representative at www.house.gov and your senators
at www.senate.gov. You can write your representative at: House of
Representatives, Washington, DC 20510; and senators at: U.S. Senate,
Washington, DC 20510.
Ask your pastor to join thousands of other pastors
and preach about marriage on October 12. Ask your Sunday School
class to participate in the suggested actions during Marriage Protection
Week.
Write a letter to the editor
of your local newspaper in support of marriage.
Join millions of others in signing
a petition in support of marriage. These petitions will be presented
to Congress and the President. Go to www.NoGayMarriage.com
to participate.
