Real answers won't come from Washington

January 1995 – Another year has come and gone. November 8, 1994, will go down in American history as the night a political earthquake shook the nation. Republicans took over both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate, and sent shockwaves across the country. Many candidates who campaigned as social conservatives and believers in the moral values we stand for at American Family Association were elected.

Now, we shall see.

I realize we have real financial problems that must be dealt with and we certainly need our Congress to act on those as soon as possible.

However, in addition, many of us are also looking for our representatives to help set a new moral tone for our nation as well. Both Democrats and Republicans need to help us return our government to honesty, integrity and virtue. Perhaps one day the U.S. Congress will again become a body that the American people look to with respect and honor. I think that can happen. It is a real possibility.

I am very hopeful that our new Congress will look to the Judeo-Christian value system for answers and direction as we go down the road towards the year 2000. We must pray for these ladies and gentlemen who now lead us – and we must hold them accountable.

We should always keep in mind, however, that the government is not the ultimate answer to our problems whatever they may be. As we go into a new year let us not forget that only Almighty God can take a country and turn it around. A complete turn around – and nothing less – is what we need, folks.

As we all anticipate positive changes in our nation’s future, I trust that you also expect great things on the homefront.

I hope 1995 is a great year for you and your family.  undefined
