January 2016 – While trends have been reported in recent years of increasing numbers of religiously unaffiliated in the U.S., the most current U.S. Religious Landscape Study from Pew Research shows that those Americans who are religious are remaining consistent and growing stronger in their religious persuasions. The percentage of religious people who say they believe in God, pray daily, and attend religious services at least once a month has not varied since 2007. And evangelical Christians report increased activity in reading Scripture, prayer or Bible study groups, and sharing their faith with others at least weekly.

“Among the roughly 75% of U.S. adults who do claim a religion, there has been no discernible drop in most measures of religious commitment,” the Pew report concluded. “Indeed, by some conventional measures religiously affiliated Americans are, on average, even more devout than they were a few years ago.”
