August 1994 – America – is she suffering from old age? The signs are pointing that way. Her physical strength is down. She is wobbling at the knees. Her moral vision is blurred. She can hardly see anything as right or wrong. Her feeble mind sees things as situational, conditional or politically correct.
Her memory is terribly short and sometimes selective. There are times when she talks as if she does not remember who she is, from whence she has come, where she is supposed to go or to whom she is account able. She is showing signs of senility.
She seems to be without focus or bearing. She is traveling in unknown directions, carrying mixed messages, working at undefined tasks and helping unidentified recipients.
She doesn’t seem to remember why she once opposed homosexuality, illegitimacy, gambling, drunkenness, divorce and laziness. She now questions the very existence of the God she used to revere, worship and petition upon every new day and upon every new endeavor. She ain’t what she used to be.
There was a time, during her younger years, when she was ashamed of certain things and embarrassed by others, felt uncomfortable in certain places, questioned some folks, was hesitant about some acts, and offended by gutter language. Certain behavior was beneath her. Some lifestyles were unbecoming, and unacceptable, period!
She has allowed her emotions to overrule her judgment, her convictions, her sense of decency and her sense of shame. Deterioration has set in and taken its toll.
She seems to care more about (l) personal achievements, (2) social attainments, and (3) material accumulations than she does about her character traits: love, honesty, faith, loyalty, integrity and determination.
Yes, America is a nation of multicultures. But, when the diversities sever her from her roots, unanchor her from her sure shore (the Creator) and dissolve her own invisible cohesiveness, then she is too diversified.
America must define a common denominator, a common vision, and a spiritual cohesiveness that will work in us, with us. between us. among us, and around us whether we are together or apart. But, such a miracle is reserved for those who acknowledge the omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent God of all ages.
In this computer age, America has just about deprogrammed the “common” God of her forefathers out of significance. She dares not to mention His name in her public places.
America needs a band of her courageous offspring to steady her faltering steps, to interpret her stammering tongue, to strengthen her where she is torn down, and to remind her of her Godly heritage.
America is in trouble. She is not wrestling against just flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places.
In sheep’s clothing, weakness and wickedness crept in and ramshackled America’s CPU (Central Processing Unit). Now her ROM (main memory) has become RAM (temporary). She is floundering, wandering, and straying away from that which is necessary to keep her safe, healthy, happy and wise.
America can be strong again. But, in her declining state of mind, she refuses to face the truth about her condition. She is denying that she is without her whole armor. Her loins are not girded with truth. She is unable to quench the fiery darts of her enemy. She is not thinking straight.
Those loved ones who desire to rescue America from her continued downward spiral might have to declare her incompetent and then appoint themselves as her power of attorney.
America has to be told that she is responsible for the sex, violence and killings on television. Often, she asks “Why are my children so violent, unappreciative, disrespectful, and unhappy?” She is destroying the minds of her young.
Now is the time for all good men and women to come to the aid of their country. They need to commit themselves to being watchmen on her walls and save her from wasted years of violence and tears.
In a consistent manner by precepts and example, Americans must maintain patriotism for America with a titanic devotion, unwavering grit, deadly determination, formidable endurance, steadfast persistence, monstrous zeal, gigantic restraint, colossal adherence, and stupendous “sticktuitive-ness.” Such a demonstration will regain the love and respectability she once held in the hearts and minds of the inhabitants of the Earth.
America, the Lord bless thee, and keep thee. The Lord make His face shine upon thee and be gracious unto thee. The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee and give thee peace.
