September 1995 – Visa USA, the credit card company, is the leading sponsor of sex, violence, and profanity on prime-time network television, according to monitoring done by AFA.

Visa sponsored a whopping 34.06 incidents of sex, violence, and profanity with every 30- second commercial they ran. Companies which were listed in the AFA’s Dirty Dozen from last fall’s monitoring which again reappeared on the Dirty Dozen list include Sara Lee, MasterCard, Adolph Coors, and Unilever.

The four major networks aired a combined 47.02 incidents of sex, violence and profanity per hour. Fox led the way with 16.79 followed by NBC with 10.75. A total of 89% of all sex was depicted outside marriage. Violence was up 23% from a year ago, while the combined amount of sex, violence and profanity was up 2%. undefined
