November-December 2000 – Recently, AFA produced a new video about homosexuality entitled It’s Not Gay. It was originally designed to be given to school board members, school administrators, counselors and those in positions of responsibility in the education system.
However, after watching the video several times, I became convinced that in addition to that audience, the video should be viewed by every teenager. Because the video was designed for school personnel, It’s Not Gay makes no mention of God or religion. Rather, it lets former homosexuals tell their story. It deals with the consequences of the lifestyle.
In their presentations within the public schools, homosexual leaders are teaching the children and youth not only to accept the homosexual lifestyle, but even to try it. Of course they mention nothing about the consequences of living the homosexual lifestyle.
Back about 20 years ago, we tried hard to get the Church involved in the battle against pornography. Because the subject was considered dirty and taboo, we had very little success. Because of the refusal of the Church to respond, we have a problem of epidemic proportions today. Lives are literally being destroyed, families broken, communities decaying because the Church did not act as it should have in addressing this problem.
A similar situation has arisen in regards to the homosexual movement. “Let’s not deal with it. It makes people uncomfortable.” That seems to be the trend. Who are those who will suffer the most? Our children. Why? Because they are being bombarded with propaganda from the homosexual movement telling them that “gay is OK.” And they aren’t getting the truth about this sin.
Recently we sent a copy of the video to several Christian television stations to see if they would be interested in airing it. One station said they could not use it because it did not mention God. The other said they could not air it because it was “too graphic.” The truth about the matter is that while neither God nor religion is mentioned, God’s truth is the theme throughout the video. Granted, the video is frank; however, it’s not gratuitous.
It’s Not Gay is uncompromising, yet compassionate. It should be seen by every youth group in every church. It will do much to help our youth avoid this destructive lifestyle.
Should you have a teenage child or grandchild, I urge you to order the video and watch it with the youth. I also urge youth pastors to show it to their groups and to follow up with a discussion. We can’t afford to lose a generation to homosexuality as we did to pornography. The cost is only $25, including shipping. Here is ordering information.
