February 1995 – Unilever, whose products are common names in millions of American households, has made a decision to use their money to support pornography and racism. The company’s products include Aim toothpaste, All detergent, Aqua Net hair spray, Calvin Klein cosmetics and Lever soap.

Unilever is a top sponsor of NYPD Blue, ABC’s sex and violence series which regularly includes nude pornographic scenes and the most vulgar, coarse language used on network television. In addition, NYPD Blue co-creator/producer David Milch has stated that he is a racist and includes his racism in the series.

In addition to TV pornography, Unilever also regularly runs ads for Calvin Klein cosmetics featuring nude sex photos.

“It is a shame that a company which has such good products has made a corporate decision to support pornography and racism,” said Donald E. Wildmon, AFA president. “We have asked Unilever several times to stop their sponsorship of NYPD Blue and to cease their print ads featuring nude group sex scenes. They have arrogantly refused to do so.”

AFA feels that Unilever needs to hear from individuals tired of the filth Unilever has decided to push with their advertising dollars. Supporters are urged to call the customer relations department at Unilever and state their disgust. The toll-free number is 1-800-598-1223.

AFA will keep you informed concerning Unilever’s reaction and is prepared to call a boycott of their products if they continue their support of pornography and racism. Please send copies of any response you receive from Unilever to AFA.
