The parable of the good evangelical

August 2000 – A liberal clergyman, desiring to justify himself, said: “And who is my neighbor?”

The teacher responded:

“A certain young man was going down from Seattle to Los Angeles. He stopped in San Francisco and fell among a group of homosexuals. They enticed him into their fellowship. They robbed him of his dignity and self-worth. Soon he was a member of the group and felt accepted. He adopted their lifestyle. Day after day he enjoyed the pleasure offered by his new acquaintances.

“Now, by chance a liberal minister was passing through San Francisco. The liberal minister saw the young man and offered encouragement to him in his new homosexual lifestyle. ‘God’s blessings be upon you for your willingness to be who God made you to be,’ said the liberal minister. ‘There are many of us who support you. We are working within our realms of influence to make sure that all gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered persons receive their full rights of ordination and marriage. Perhaps one day you will become a part of a church that practices unity without requiring uniformity.’

“So likewise, a liberal bishop was traveling through San Francisco. The bishop saw the young man and offered encouragement to him in his new lifestyle. ‘We know that God made you like you are,’ said the liberal bishop. ‘We know that he accepts you as you are. We affirm you in your lifestyle. There are many of us who support you. We are working with our friends in the denomination and liberal media to make sure that all gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered persons receive their full rights of ordination and marriage.’

“But an evangelical Christian, as he journeyed through San Francisco, met the young man and had compassion. He went to him and offered to help the young man out of his lifestyle. He explained that God had ordained sex to be between a husband and wife. He explained to him that living in his current lifestyle could bring misery, hurt and possibly death. He told him how his lifestyle was against the will of God. He befriended him, loved him and gave him hope to live within the will of God. He offered to introduce him to friends who would love him and help him achieve God’s will in his life.”

Then the teacher asked the liberal clergyman, “Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the young man who fell among the homosexuals?”

The liberal clergyman replied: “The two who encouraged him in his lifestyle.”

The teacher responded: “Woe to you. You are the blind leading the blind. You have ears, but do not hear. You have the form of religion, but deny the power of God. You are wolves in sheep’s clothing. You are not content to destroy your own soul, but rejoice in enticing others to follow you.

“Woe to you, liberal ministers and bishops. You shut the kingdom of heaven against individuals. You are intent on bringing this misery to countless others because you misconstrue God’s love.”

And from that day forward, liberals plotted to destroy evangelicals because evangelicals believe what the Bible teaches about homosexuality.  undefined
