He’s the gay movement’s #1 cheerleader

August 2009 – Did you see in the news that President Obama had a celebration at the White House with representatives of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered (GLBT) crowd in late June? Obama proclaimed June “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Pride Month.” A transgendered person, in case you were wondering, is a man who thinks he is a woman or a woman who thinks she is a man.

“I want you to know: You have our support,” Obama told members of the core Democratic constituency as he and first lady Michelle Obama hosted a cocktail-and-appetizer reception in the East Room for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Pride Month. “I will not only be your friend, I will continue to be an ally and a champion and a president who fights [alongside] you and for you.”

President Obama has promised the GLBT lobby that its political agenda is his political agenda. This includes, but is not limited to, pushing for open homosexuality in the United States military and overturning the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) passed by a Republican Congress and signed by Democratic President Bill Clinton.

Let’s think logically about the new president’s commitment to see homosexuals and heterosexuals bunking together on Navy ships. There is a reason why the military has always given separate quarters and showers to men and women. If you put males and females together in close proximity, like sleeping and showering, it creates sexual tension and leads to sexual activity which breaks down discipline and order in an institution that’s very survival depends on discipline and order. Everyone knows this. General Colin Powell, no conservative stalwart, made this case before Congress a few years back.

So, if gay men are sexually attracted to men in the same way that heterosexual men are sexually attracted to women, why then would you want to force homosexual men and straight men to shower together? Can you imagine women and men being told they must shower together in the Army? You would never see that. Yet, President Obama wants to force straight men to bunk and shower with openly gay men. Can you imagine this?

But this is the kind of social engineering he thinks is good for America.  Logic, military tradition and common sense are cast aside.

DOMA, which the president wants to repeal, simply allows each state the right to refuse to recognize gay marriages performed in other states. This came in response to an attempt to legalize gay marriage in Hawaii in the mid 1990s.

Today, for example, if a Steve and Tom wanted to fly to Massachusetts (which legalized gay marriage in 2003) to get “married” and then fly home to Mississippi, Mississippi would not have to honor that marriage as legal. DOMA makes it a state’s rights matter. Even President Clinton agreed with that policy.

But not President Obama; he wants to force states who have said no to homosexual marriage to accept it. So, you can see why people like me say then-candidate Obama was at the best disingenuous when he told the American voters he was not in favor of gay marriage. He is, in fact. He just does not want to say so because he knows how unpopular the idea is with a majority of Americans of all political stripes.

I told myself when President Obama was elected that I would not nitpick him at every turn like the Democrats did President Bush. Everything bad that happened was Bush’s fault. When gas prices went up it was Bush’s fault. But when gas prices went down, as they did dramatically, I didn’t hear any of these people giving President Bush credit. He put more African-Americans into positions of power than any other president in history – but he was still a racist. All of this was unfair, unpatriotic and unmerciful.

But what we have with President Obama has become apparent. He is to the far left of the American public on most issues, as some tried to warn. But because of his charismatic personality, the September 2008 economic crisis and a weak opponent, he was elected to lead us.

For Christians, we are commanded by the Bible to pray for all in authority, no matter how much or how little we agree with them. I do that. I pray that God Almighty gets into the heart and mind of President Obama, and I pray that President Obama opens his heart and mind to Almighty God.

As we do that, we can also work through the political system to defeat any of the president’s policy ideas that are clearly contrary to the Word of God.  undefined
