February 2013 – Lincoln: The Movie EXTREME CAUTION
Director Stephen Spielberg delivered a mixed bag with his hit movie Lincoln (PG-13). AFA staffers who saw the movie were stunned by the proliferation of profane and obscene language.
Ted Baehr’s MovieGuide said the film included a “moral worldview against slavery but with only some light, infrequently uplifting references to God … and some strong politically correct revisionist history that obliterates many of the nuances about the history of President Lincoln.” Baehr tallied 13 or 14 strong profanities, all but two of them GDs. The film covers the years of the Civil War, so some graphic violence is also included. One scene depicts an unmarried couple in bed together.
The Lost Medallion
Action and adventure characterize The Lost Medallion, the new film from MeThinx Entertainment. This family friendly fantasy stars Alex Kendrick of Sherwood Pictures.
The story opens with Daniel, played by Kendrick, visiting a foster home where Miss Sally cares for a house full of youngsters. Urged to tell the kids a story, Daniel launches into a riveting tale of intrigue set on a Polynesian island where Billy is trying desperately to find a lost medallion from centuries ago.
Unfortunately, the medallion is also sought by a gang of thugs. When Billy uncovers the medallion, he and his friend, Allie, are whisked magically away to a village on the island from long ago and the adventure truly begins.
Children from 7 to 14 will be captivated by this movie. It is fast-paced and has great humorous moments. The main characters learn significant truths about themselves and about life. This is a movie adults will enjoy watching with their children, and it could promote great family discussions. The Lost Medallion will release in theaters March 1.
