April 2015 – LifeWay Research found that Christians, by and large, exhibit more concern about the nature of Islam than the general American public. Only 27% of Americans polled in September 2014 believe ISIS represents the true nature of Islam, and 43% believe true Islam creates a peaceful society.
However, only 33% of evangelical Christians agree that an Islamic society is peaceful. Over 60% of pastors disagree that Islam is peaceful, 45% say ISIS shows what an Islamic society looks like, and about 75% support military action against ISIS.
