March 2015 – Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee and All In, a Louisiana-based ministry, are urging Christians to be intentional about serving others by demonstrating their faith as they join in a day of good deeds on April 3. They’re calling the emphasis “Do Good on Good Friday.”
“I’ve always been inspired by the Scripture James 2:18 – ‘Show me your faith without works, and I’ll show you my faith by my works,’” Huckabee said.
“We want to engage and mobilize the people of God to remind our country what authentic Christianity looks like,” said Michael Phillips, founder of All In.
While the focus of the movement – and its success – depend on individual acts of kindness, its website offers ideas for how churches, schools, and other organizations might adopt Do Good on Good Friday as a focus for witnessing to and serving others.
“Our goal is to have millions of people serving and praying on a single day in honor of the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us on the cross,” Phillips said.
