October 2015 – In the wake of recent federal decisions, individual states are taking action by creating their own legislation. Since the U.S. Congress voted against defunding Planned Parenthood on August 3, New Hampshire, Alabama, Utah, Arkansas, and Louisiana have rescinded contracts granting state funds to Planned Parenthood clinics. Thirteen other states have launched investigations into Planned Parenthood clinics.

The move to defund Planned Parenthood began in response to the release of undercover videos revealing that the nation’s largest provider of abortion services illegally sells aborted baby parts.

States are also responding to the June U.S. Supreme Court judgment legalizing same sex marriage. States are passing laws to protect religious liberty for pastors, businesses, and churches. Texas and Kansas are two states that have acted to ensure religious liberty, and Ohio has taken a bill to the state legislature.
