October 2016 – Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner (above) signed a bill in July requiring all health care providers to describe benefits of abortion and refer their patients to where they can get an abortion.

“This is regardless of what their personal feelings about abortion may be or the dictates of conscience that would never in a million years allow them to recommend or suggest an abortion to anybody,” said Ann Scheidler of Pro-Life Action League.

The law does not require doctors to suggest alternatives to abortion or the benefits of choosing life. Pro-Life Action League pointed out that the law is an unconstitutional infringement on freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Alliance Defending Freedom is filing suit against the state.
