March 2017 – National Religious Broadcasters announced in early January that the Rev. Dr. Donald E. Wildmon (photo above) will receive the 2017 NRB Hall of Fame Award March 2 at NRB’s annual convention in Orlando, Florida. The HOF stands as witness for current communicators who live exemplary lives of valor and compassion.

The press release from NRB said that this “most prestigious award is presented to an individual NRB member for invaluable contribution to the field of Christian communications, exhibition of the highest standards, and evidence of faithfulness in Christ.”

Wildmon founded AFA in 1977, and the ministry launched the American Family Radio network in 1991.

“When he started American Family Association 40 years ago, he had no idea how far God would lead this ministry,” Tim Wildmon wrote in a message to supporters, “but he knew he was called toward restoring Christian values in our culture.

“His wisdom and insight led him to start American Family Radio in 1991. Today, his vision is alive in 188 Christian radio stations nationwide.”

In congratulating Rev. Wildmon, NRB president and CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson said, “It can, at times, be difficult to stand up for what is right, but Don and AFA have done so these past four decades as part of their commitment to protect families across the nation.”
