July 2019 – Mimicking the lead character in the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, Jessica Scatterson hanged herself in her dad’s Warrington, England, home. The 12-year-old left a note citing six reasons why she believed she should kill herself.
The child’s mother has since pled with other parents to prevent their children from watching the suicide-themed series. At press time, Netflix had announced an unspecified debut date for season three. Assuming that it does return to Netflix, AFA will continue to monitor the series.
