June 2014 – Filmmakers Phelim McAleer, Ann McElhinney and Magdalena Segieda are working on a documentary film about Kermit Gosnell, the convicted Philadelphia murderer of over 1,000 babies in his horrific abortion practice.

“Gosnell will be based on trial transcripts – it will be based on what happened and how America’s most prolific serial killer was allowed to go undetected for over 30 years,” Segieda said.

The filmmakers set out to raise the $2.1 million budget for the film through crowdfunding, or public donations collected online. When they brought the project to the crowdfunding website Kickstarter, the website operators objected to the subject matter and insisted on restricting the details of Gosnell’s crimes. As a result, the filmmakers were forced to move the crowdfunding campaign to indiegogo.com
