December 2015 – A new survey by Lifeway Research has found that an overwhelming majority of Americans – whether religious or not – believe that a creator designed the universe and established its code of morality.

Of the 1,000 Americans Lifeway surveyed, 72% overall agree with this statement: “Since the universe has organization, I think there is a creator who designed it.” Specifically, 46% in the “none” category (atheists, agnostics, and other non-religious individuals) agree with the statement.

In light of America’s culture of moral relativism and increased acceptance of unbiblical behaviors, “Americans are less certain whether a creator defines right and wrong,” said Facts & Trends magazine’s Lisa Cannon Green. “A smaller majority, 66%, say people’s moral values attest to a creator who determines morality.”
