May 2018 – The Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, marks its 50th anniversary season the first weekend of May and will run through the last weekend of October.
With a cast of over 150 actors, the iconic drama lasts almost two hours and takes place on a 550-foot historically accurate stage. An original score, performed and recorded by the National Philharmonic Orchestra of London, accompanies the live-action drama depicting the epic events of Christ’s crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension.
Visitors to The Great Passion Play can also tour the grounds, viewing replicas of Jerusalem’s Eastern Gate, the Tabernacle in the Wilderness, a biblical-era marketplace, and other Holy Land sites. Three museums, the 65-foot Christ of the Ozarks statue, and other live dramatic presentations complement the stage drama.
