June 2019 – In May 2018, AFA Journal told the tragic story of 14-year-old Anna Bright, who committed suicide after binge-watching Season 1 of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why. In response to Anna’s story, more than 144,000 people signed AFA’s petition asking Netflix to pull the dangerous series.

Instead of heeding concerns of families, Netflix ignored the negative impact of the series on teens and produced a second season. The network is now promoting Season 3.

Read the original interview with Anna’s family in the May 2018 AFA Journal.  AFA will monitor Season 3 to inform and motivate concerned families to speak up and urge Netflix to cancel the suicide-themed series.
