June 2019 – With the cost of higher education rising at an unsustainable rate and student debt crippling graduates, the American Council of Trustees and Alumni has launched an innovative website that seeks to answer the question: How are colleges spending their money?

HowCollegesSpendMoney.com offers access to financial information and spending trends of 1,500 public and private colleges and universities. College trustees and administrators – as well as students and their parents – can instantly access years of spending patterns at any school and compare them in numerous ways to spending at other institutions.

“The dream of a college education has become a financial nightmare for millions of students and families beset with runaway costs of tuition and fees,” said Michael Polikoff, ACTA president. He said total student loan debt stands at $1.5 trillion, and the average student graduates with more than $37,000 debt.
