August 2021 – In New York City, parents were furious when Dalton School’s “health and wellness” educator, Justine Ang Fonte, showed first-graders two cartoons explaining masturbation and other sexual topics in depth. Considering tuition at the private school costs $55,000 per year, parents were outraged that they were never notified of the sexually explicit curriculum or asked to consent.
After parents complained, Dalton School officials claimed parents had misunderstood the lesson’s content but promised to remove the videos from future instruction.
“We are not ‘confused,’” one Dalton parent said. “We are in fact seeing very clearly for the first time what a ‘progressive’ education really means at Dalton.”
