December 2021On September 19, evangelist Franklin Graham kicked off a 14-day “God Loves You” tour along the historic Route 66 highway. Starting in Joliet, Illinois, and wrapping up in San Bernardino, California, on October 2, the tour spanned eight cities and saw more than 56,000 in attendance.

Concerning the purpose of his first evangelistic event since the COVID-19 pandemic, Graham said, “Times change; culture changes, but people’s need for a relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ doesn’t change.”

Tiffany Jothen, writing for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, reported that “throughout the Route 66 tour, more than 5,000 people made decisions for Christ. …”

“With all the bad news around us day in and day out, people need hope,” Graham explained. “I want people along Route 66 – and the rest of this nation – to know that God loves them.”
