May 2017 – A poll conducted by Pew Research in February reveals that, in terms of likeability, Millennials prefer Buddhists over those who practice other religions. Evangelicals fare about the same as Muslims and atheists.
“Millennials gave Muslims 58% likeability, with atheists [at] 59% – the same as evangelicals and mainline Protestants, who were also rated at 59%,” Christian Post reporter Stoyan Zaimov said. “What is more, young Americans liked Buddhists the best, at 66%, and Mormons the least, with 54%.”
“Across the board,” Pew researchers said, “Americans express warmer feelings toward religious groups when they are personally familiar with someone in the group.”
