April 2018 – Pew Research Center reports that Republicans and Democrats are further apart in their views regarding the Middle East than at any time since 1978.

Data shows Republicans are more sympathetic to Israel than Democrats by a margin of 79% to 27%. And nearly three times as many Republicans as Democrats have a favorable impression of Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister.

The same research discovered that 42% of those polled believe President Donald Trump is striking the right balance in current Middle East situations. Only 3% say the president sides too much with the Palestinians.
