July 2018 – True to his campaign promise of welfare reform, President Donald Trump signed an executive order in early April aimed at changing policies surrounding food stamps, cash welfare assistance, and possibly even housing benefits and Medicaid.
With common-sense measures, Trump’s order seeks to help all welfare recipients who are capable of working either find a job and work, train for a job, or volunteer 20 hours a week.
The executive order did not impact Social Security or Medicare. It is designed to reduce fraud and waste while helping citizens exit the welfare system by putting them to work in a booming economy that has millions of jobs available.
