September 2018 – Christian musician and hymn writer Keith Getty of the well-loved, husband-wife duo Keith and Kristyn Getty, was awarded the insignia of Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire on July 3. The Irish-born musician received the award from the hand of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. This was the first time the honor has been accorded to a person working in contemporary church music.

“It is an honor for us as a family and also for the great hymn-writing heritage we have here in the UK of which we are a tiny part,” Getty said.
