December 2019 – “Dear God, this morning I’m feeling nervous and a little unsure but thankful,” Jamisha Harris captioned an image of her children praying on the first day of school in August. Before posting the image on Facebook, Harris and her husband had recently lost their jobs and apartment.
With the concern of safety and where her family would reside, Harris started a Gofundme page with a goal of $8,000. To date, the Gofundme page has raised over $43,000. The Harris family has since purchased a truck and a house, and both have found jobs.
Harris said, “They may have taken prayer out of the school but not out of God’s children.”
