March 2019 – According to a new Gallup poll, the American people seem to agree with President Ronald Reagan’s words from his 1981 inaugural address: “In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.”
In the first survey following the 2018 midterm congressional election, 19% of Americans polled in December said some aspect of the federal government is the top problem facing the U.S. Among the 13 issues addressed, immigration trailed closely behind at 16% and “unifying the country” at 8%.
