March 2019 – At the George Washington University mock trial tournament in October 2018, teams from Patrick Henry College took first and second places. Howard University, College of William and Mary, and Southern Methodist University were third, fourth, and fifth respectively.
In a mock trial, each team member assumes the role of a character in a trial setting – judge, attorney, witness, etc. PHC, which draws many homeschooled students from conservative and Christian homes, has won numerous awards in the courtroom competitions since entering that arena in 2008. Yale, Princeton, and Georgetown were among other teams in the 2018 tournament.
