October 2019On July 30, Gov. Gavin Newson (D-CA) signed another bill into law. This new law requires presidential candidates to disclose tax returns from the previous five years before running in a primary. The measure also applies to candidates running for governor of the state. In 2017, Newson’s predecessor, Jerry Brown, vetoed a similar bill, questioning its constitutionality. This new law has been challenged in court.
