December 2020Businesses in the Golden State are leaving by the thousands. An estimated 13,000 left between 2009 and 2016. In 2018 and 2019, 765 commercial facilities abandoned the state.

The reason is simple: High taxes, burdensome regulations, and a cost of living 50% higher than the national average.

Well-known political commentator and media host Ben Shapiro recently announced, “My family and my company are leaving California. … [B]ad governance has turned a would-be paradise into a burgeoning dystopia.”

Aside from the business climate being less than favorable, the state’s morality is rapidly declining as well.

“My children have personally witnessed drug use, public urination, and public nudity,” Shapiro added.

Shapiro doubts things will get better: “In 2019, before the pandemic and the widespread rioting and looting, out-migration jumped 38%, rising for the seventh straight year. That number will increase again this year.”
