January-February 2020 – During an NFL football game on September 22, 2019, New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis wore a headband with the words “Man of God.” The NFL fined Davis $7,017 for wearing the headband. Davis and his agent then appealed to the NFL to have the fine removed, an appeal they eventually won. However, instead of reclaiming the money, Davis donated every cent of it to St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Davis continues to sell the headband, with “Woman of God” and “Child of God” variations also available. All proceeds from the headbands are being given to St. Dominic, with more than $30,000 already raised from the proceeds according to a social media post by Davis.
