October 2020In mid-July, artist and pro-life activist Tayler Hansen started a movement when he used temporary paint to create a mural with the words “Baby Lives Matter” on the street facing a Planned Parenthood (PP) abortion facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. The movement began shortly after the words “Black Lives Matter” were painted on streets of major U.S. cities. For instance, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) had “Black Lives Matter” painted in 35-foot, bright yellow letters down 16th Street near the White House in early June.

In late July, Hansen took to D.C. and created a Baby Lives Matter mural on 4th Street, facing a PP clinic. A few days later, a group of Students for Life activists obtained a city permit to write “Black Pre-born Lives Matter” at another PP mega center in the city. On August 1, as the students began to write the slogan in sidewalk chalk – not paint – two of them were arrested and reportedly charged with defacing public and/or private property.
