September 2020American pastors and ministry leaders from many denominations have issued a joint call for a solemn assembly of worship, prayer, fasting, and weeping to take place in the nation’s capital on September 26, 2020. Named “The Return,” this national day of repentance marks the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims’ landing in America.

However, the purpose of the event is more than a nod to the Founding Fathers. As the prophet Joel called for an appointed time for all believers to desperately cry out to God, this season of national turmoil and division is an appropriate time for all believers to plead with God to restore America.

In his July newsletter, Dr. James Dobson announced his plan to speak at The Return and encouraged his supporters to attend. Dobson wrote, “[W]hile it often appears that Western civilization as we have known it is in its closing days, there are millions of Christians in this country who love Jesus and are praying fervently for a spiritual renewal.”

Franklin Graham is among other national leaders involved in The Return. For more information, to register, or to receive a live simulcast link, visit thereturn.org.
