September 2020A streaming series centered on the life and ministry of Jesus Christ has witnessed breakout numbers during this quarantine season. The Chosen, directed by Dallas Jenkins, is completely free and has garnered over 46.5 million views on its app (available for Apple and Android), which was downloaded more than 100,000 times before Easter.

According to the show’s website, it is the number one crowd-funded project in history, receiving $10 million from over 19,000 people. The episodes have been translated into 50 languages with more on the way. Viewers can “pay it forward” while using the app, which helps generate finances for future seasons to be made.

The makers are currently in the fundraising phase for Season 2 of the show, with more than $6 million already raised.
