April 2021 – In September 2020, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed House Bill 1135 authorizing creation of a specialty license plate bearing the words “Florida Stands With Israel.” The bill passed both the Florida House and Senate with notable bipartisan support. The Israeli-American Council sponsored a contest to determine the design of the new plate and released a statement saying, “Florida has been a leader over the years in the fight against anti-Jewish hatred and discrimination, and we sincerely appreciate this meaningful expression of solidarity.”
The plate will go into production once 3,000 presale vouchers are sold. The design features an orange blossom superimposed over a blue Star of David and an orange in the background.
