June 2021On January 20 President Joe Biden officially terminated a 2019 Trump presidential proclamation that had declared a national emergency at the U.S. southern border. Biden also halted construction of the southwestern border wall on his first day in office.

And in his first formal news conference on March 25, President Biden said he made no apologies for ending President Trump’s policies, such as those on immigration, even with border crossings at the highest number in over 20 years. In fact, the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol reported immigration statistics triple those of February 2020.

Accordingly, incidents of child sex trafficking and smuggling are also growing. On March 16, Border Patrol agents rescued a 6-month-old baby after smugglers threw the tiny girl into the Rio Grande near Roma, Texas.

Agents also rescued 150 other children from a smugglers’ raft.

In a similar situation, smugglers dropped a pair of young sisters from Ecuador over a 14-foot border fence near El Paso, Texas. Since mobile security cameras recorded the incident as it occurred, Border Patrol agents were able to rescue the sisters within moments.
