October 2021 – Hidilyn Diaz made history as the Philippines’ first Olympic gold medal winner, and she gave all glory to God. Competing in the weightlifting events, Diaz set an Olympic world record when she lifted 224 kilograms, roughly 494 pounds. The four-time Olympian praised God on the podium and credited her faith in Christ for the win.
Months before the competition began, Diaz posted to social media: “I thank God for having a team who is there fighting and working together for one goal and one dream for the Philippines.”
