December 2014 – America’s ethnic demographics are changing. As reported by the Department of Education, half of all students nationwide are ethnic minorities. Only 63% of all Americans are white, and the U.S. Census Department predicts that by 2043 no one ethnic group will hold a majority and by 2060 57% of Americans will be non-white.

Among Christians, 7 out of 10 of those over age 65 are white, but only a quarter of 18-29-year-olds are white. At the same time, 8 out of 10 Protestant pastors surveyed by Lifeway Research believe churches should strive for racial diversity, but only 13% say their own congregations are racially diverse.
