September 2014 – U.S. Air Force chief of chaplains Major General Howard Stendhal (photo at left) delivered the opening prayer at the Pentagon’s observance of LGBT Pride Month, an annual event by proclamation from the White House. In the prayer, Stendahl asked God to “open our minds” and “help us set aside limitations of prejudice of any kind.”

Gordon Klingenschmitt, founder of Pray in Jesus Name Project and a former Navy chaplain, said, “We should not be proud. We should be ashamed that America is embracing sin. It’s shocking to me that the opening prayer for this ceremony actually called upon God to endorse homosexuality.”
