September 2014 – A 2014 Gallup poll reveals that nearly half (42%) of Americans believe that God created humans in their present form within the last 10,000 years. This is despite the predominance of evolutionary teaching in classrooms. Ken Ham, president of the creationist organization Answers in Genesis, found encouragement from the survey results. “With the intense evolutionary indoctrination in this nation, these statistics tell you that Christians are involved in aggressively being out there to combat it and their efforts are working,” Ham said.
Out of those who believe humans evolved, 31% said God guided the evolutionary process.
Which of the following statements comes closest to your views on the origin and development of human beings?
1) Human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God guided this process;
2) Human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God had no part;
3) God created human beings pretty much in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years or so.
