July-August 2016 – ABC’s The Muppets series retooled for adults has lasted only one season after AFA’s OneMillionMoms warned parents that the new show was for adults only. 1MM members contacted ABC, pleading with the network to drop plans to air the program since it was not family-friendly.
ABC was disappointed in the show’s ratings because parents were alerted ahead of time that no subject would be off limits. The show aimed at a mature audience and addressed subjects not suitable for family viewing.
“The beloved children’s puppets do not mix well with perversion, sexually charged jokes, and crude humor,” said 1MM director Monica Cole.
