July-August 2016 – On April 14, 2016, many students countered the pro-LGBT Day of Silence with their own Day of Dialogue, a nationwide free speech event sponsored by Focus on the Family to help Christian students learn to express biblical beliefs about God’s design for marriage and sexuality.

“All too often, these subjects are presented in a one-sided way that is extremely disrespectful of parental rights and students’ religious freedoms,” said Focus on the Family’s Candi Cushman. “Thankfully, we live in a nation that still allows free speech and religious freedom. That’s why it’s so important that we encourage our students that they have nothing to be ashamed of in expressing their deeply held religious convictions.”

Day of Dialogue has occurred in mid-April every year since 2011. This year represented the greatest level of participation, with signups nearly doubling last year’s 8,000 students from every state.
