July-August 2016 – AFA continues to call people of faith across America to stop shopping at Target department stores until the company rescinds its policy allowing men to use women’s restrooms and vice-versa.

The primary goal of the boycott is simple, according to AFA vice-president Ed Vitagliano – to protect women and children from predators and voyeurs.

Calling the policy “dangerous and misguided,” Vitagliano said the nation’s second largest discount retailer cares more about political correctness than the safety and privacy concerns of its customers.

Target announced its bathroom/fitting room policy in April in support of men and women who “self-identify” as the opposite sex.

At press time, over 1.3 million people had signed a petition pledging to boycott Target. The petition is available at afa.net. Also as AFA Journal went to press, AFA spokesman Abraham Hamilton was attending Target’s annual shareholder meeting, thanks to a proxy vote extended by a shareholder who supports AFA.

“AFA will attempt to keep the issue in the media in the coming weeks,” Vitagliano said. He urged parents to share their concerns with local Target managers, especially during the back-to-school shopping season.
