July-August 2016 – A study of movies released over the past 20 years shows astronomical growth in the creation of family friendly movies. In 1996, Movieguide counted only 14 family friendly movies. In 2015, there were 106 such movies. In addition, those movies find a better market than they did 20 years ago, with box office totals of $6.88 billion compared to $119.39 million in 1996.
