June 2017 – Teen Vogue magazine has published a post-abortion gift guide with suggestions for gifts one can give a friend who has had an abortion. The article suggests that aborting a child is not as important as how the girl feels afterward. Gifts range from a box of chocolates to what is described as an “angry uterus-heating pad.”
Kristan Hawkins of Students for Life, the nation’s largest youth pro-life organization, said the magazine implied that if a teen has an abortion, she can quickly be back on her feet with no negative effect.
“That’s actually not the truth,” said Hawkins. “We know many women suffer physical complications from their abortions, complications that they aren’t expecting because they’re told that it’s just simply nothing, and then the psychological effects are profound.”
