June 2017 – In December 2016, Vimeo, a popular video-sharing website, contacted David Kyle Foster, director of Pure Passion Ministries, charging that some of his ministry’s videos were marked by a Vimeo moderator because “Vimeo does not allow videos that harass, incite hatred, or depict excessive violence.”

Foster’s PPM site hosts video testimonies of people who have left homosexuality after coming to Jesus. Vimeo instructed him to remove any such videos within 48 hours.

Foster responded, asking the company to cite any video violating their terms. The immediate response included these statements: “To put it plainly, we don’t believe that homosexuality requires a cure and we don’t allow videos on our platform that espouse this point of view. Please remove any and all videos that discuss homosexuality as a condition requiring healing.”

In March 2017, after a long dialogue via email, Vimeo closed PPM’s account and removed all of its 850 videos. The videos can still be streamed on YouTube.
