November 2017 – A recent survey of American evangelical leaders found 76% agree that it is okay for Christians who tithe 10% to give a portion to a parachurch ministry.

However, AFA president Tim Wildmon explained AFA’s position: “We have always believed that the tithe belongs to the church and gifts given to AFA should be outside that. We are not here to replace the church but to strengthen it.”

According to Relevant magazine, Christians are only giving 2.5% per capita. If that number were increased to 10%, an additional $165 billion could, among other things, relieve global hunger, starvation, and deaths from preventable diseases in five years, and fully fund all overseas mission work.
