January-February 2018 – Brennon Jones has been providing haircuts and shaves to homeless people on the streets of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for about a year through his program Haircuts 4 Homeless. He quit counting exactly how many cuts he has given, but he has served well over a thousand homeless individuals.

Jones started his personal ministry after he gave a homeless man a small amount of money for food. The encounter left him wanting to do more. He decided to use his talent for cutting hair as a means to serve those in need. So, he began offering haircuts, shaves, toiletries, and clothing to local homeless people.

In the process, Jones began developing relationships with “customers.” And his street shop soon gained recognition and support from other Philadelphians. One supporter, Sean Johnson, gifted Jones with a barbershop of his own, free of charge. Johnson said he just wanted to return the favors of people who had helped him get back on his feet years ago after a time in prison, where Johnson went to school to become a licensed barber.
